Mermaid Press of Maine is a small press with a publishing line bigger than life. Founded over a dozen years ago, it has specialized in fiction that tells powerful stories. Despite its name, it is not a local or regional press; the “of Maine” differentiates us from other “presses mermaid” that have come and gone in the publishing world since at least the middle of the twentieth century. Our customers are primarily in the United States, but we have enthusiastic converts from Great Britain to Australia, from Canada to Germany, from Spain to India. Because of our size we focus our marketing on individual titles, holding backlist in reserve. The latest release in our lineup is Edmund Persuader: A Romance. We wouldn't ordinarily carry something identified as “a romance,” but Edmund Persuader is a romance in the authentic sense: a powerful narrative of love with strong elements of adventure, redolent with the living history of a faraway era.
